We actually began this campaign Oct 20 and continued it through Nov 12. We are a small school of about 140 students (grades 7 to 12). We had a delay in receiving the gift cards. We began with a poster contest. The posters encouraged seatbelt usage. About 15 entries were submitted. We gave cash prizes of $20, $10 and $5. All posters were then displayed at City Hall (which is also where the police department is located). We used an actual seat from a vehicle and created a display showing how to correctly wear a seatbelt (along with written instructions) and put it in the cafeteria. Finally, we were able to do our observation and issue "citations". Dum dum suckers were given to those not wearing a seatbelt. We opted to use tootsie pops (wise old owls) for those wearing seatbelts. The students had fun issuing citaitons. The shirts were a hit! The gift cards drawing was a hit also.
